Audiologist
Audiologists are responsible for the assessment, treatment, and prevention of hearing, balance, and ear problems and disorders. Some job duties include: evaluating patients for hearing, balance, and sensory an neural problems or disorders, operating equipment, developing treatment plans, educating patients and family on adjusting to hearing loss and how to use hearing instruments, fitting and dispensing hearing instruments, maintaining records and reports of the patient’s progression. Audiologists must have a minimum of a Master’s degree in audiology. In addition, they must receive certification from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Forty-nine states require that audiologists be licensed to practice in that state.
