Cath Lab Tech

Cath Lab Technologists are responsible for assisting with invasive cardiac procedures.  Some job duties include:  preparing patients for invasive heart procedures, positioning patients and equipment for testing, assisting physicians with procedures by scrubbing, monitoring, or circulating, and completing diagnostic reports for interpretation by the physician.  Cath lab technologists must have completed a minimum of a two to four year program in that leads to a certificate, Associate degree, or Bachelor’s degree in cardiac cath lab.  Although it is not required, cath lab technologists can be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or the Cardiovascular Credentialing International.
