Licensed Practical Nurse - LPN

Licensed Practical Nurses are responsible for the treatment, safety, and recovery of patients.  Some job duties include:  assessing patient health problems and needs, recording patients’ vital signs, developing and implementing nursing care plans, maintaining medical records, cleaning and monitoring medical equipment, assisting with daily living activities, and monitoring the patients.  They also may sometimes supervise nursing assistants and orderlies.  Licensed practical nurses must have a high school diploma or GED, and they must complete an accredited practical nursing program.  They must also be certified through the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
