Phlebotomist
Phlebotomists are responsible for drawing blood from patients and donors. Some job duties include: assembling all the necessary equipment, such as needles, tourniquet, and blood collection devices, verifying the identity of the patient or donor, drawing blood from the patients, properly labeling blood specimen tubes, taking inventory of all supplies and keeping the area clean, and collecting and filing data. Phlebotomists are required to complete a minimum of a high school diploma or GED as well as complete a phlebotomy program. They must be certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the American Medical Technologists, or the National Credentialing Agency.
