Your staffing
specialist has worked hard to set up an interview for you with a facility.
Now is your chance to nail the interview and get the job. So here are
some quick tips and suggestions to keep in mind in preparing for the phone
interview.
Before
the interview
- Know
your resume - It's always good to have a copy on hand so that if the
interviewer has any questions about it you will both be on the same
page.
- Be in
a good environment for the interview. Get away from distractions such
as the pets, TV, people, etc
- Prepare
for questions - Think of the questions that you will probably be asked
and have them ready to answer during the interview.
- Have
a pen and paper hand to take notes during the interview.
- Know
the name of the person that will be interviewing you and the name
of the facility. Your staffing specialist will let you know the name
of the person who will be interviewing you. Write it down so that
you remember.
- Keep
a glass of water nearby to wet your mouth during the interview.
During
the interview
- Speak
slowly and clearly. Enunciate all your words unmistakably.
- Don't
interrupt the interviewer.
- Ask
questions. This shows that you have interest in the job.
- Sell
yourself. Remember, you do have a lot to offer. Also, you should come
across motivated, personable, and energetic, but don't overdue it
because you may start to sound phony.
- As the
interview comes to an end, let the interviewer know that you want
the position if you are interested, and that you will wait to hear
more from the staffing specialist.
- Remember
to thank the interviewer for his/her time.
After
the interview
- Go
over your notes.
- Speak
with your staffing specialist to see if there was anything you could
have done to improve the interview.
- Wait
until an offer is made.
