Respiratory Therapists are responsible for assisting patients who suffer from pulmonary disorders.  Some job duties include:  Evaluating patients through interviews, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests, communicating results to physicians for treatment planning, assisting with formulating treatment plans, treating, monitoring, and caring for patients, educating patients on proper techniques for treatments, maintaining knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures, and completing records and reports concerning treatments.  Respiratory therapists must complete a two to four year program in that leads to a certificate, Associate degree, or Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy.  They must also receive certification from the National Board of Respiratory Care as a certified or registered respiratory therapist.
