Surgical Tech
Surgical Technologists are responsible for assisting in the operating room. Some job duties include: preparing patients for surgery, transporting and positioning patients in and out of the operating room, cleaning and setting up surgical equipment and supplies, assisting the surgical team with scrubbing in and dressing for surgery, assisting with passing instruments and supplies to the surgeon, monitoring vital signs, and monitoring and accounting for all equipment. Surgical technologists must have a high school diploma or GED in addition to completing a program that leads to a certificate or degree in surgical technology. They must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
